Lambert Labs achieves Cyber Essentials Plus certification

Overview

At Lambert Labs, the security of our internal operations is the foundation upon which we build secure AWS environments for our customers. We are pleased to announce that we have officially achieved the Cyber Essentials Plus certification.

While the standard Cyber Essentials involves a self-assessment, the ‘Plus’ certification is significantly more rigorous. It required an independent, third-party technical audit of our systems to verify that our security controls are not only in place but are functioning effectively against the most common cyber threats.

Motivation

As an AWS Advanced Tier Services Partner, we recognize that we are a critical link in our customers’ supply chains. Our motivation for pursuing Cyber Essentials Plus was twofold: 

1. Leading by example: we advise our customers on how to adhere to the security pillar of the AWS Well-Architected Framework every day; it is vital that our own internal ‘house’ meets the highest UK government-backed standards.

2. Risk mitigation: in an era of increasing supply-chain attacks, we want to provide absolute transparency regarding our defensive posture.

What is Cyber Essentials Plus?

Cyber Essentials Plus is a UK Government-backed scheme designed to protect organizations against a wide range of the most common cyber attacks. The ‘Plus’ audit involved a hands-on technical verification by a qualified assessor, focusing on five key control themes:

• Boundary firewalls and internet gateways – ensuring secure connections.
• Secure configuration – tailoring system settings to minimize vulnerabilities.
• User access control – restricting access to those who strictly need it.
• Malware protection – implementing robust defenses against malicious software.
• Patch management – ensuring all software is up-to-date and resistant to known exploits.
